Subcontractor/Supplier Bidding Outreach

Alden Plumbing LLC dba Alden Mechanical is committed to identifying and utilizing reputable minority, veteran and women-owned business enterprises for our projects and our purchasing.  Alden Mechanical continually makes efforts to promote and increase the participation of these businesses, as well as hiring local.  Alden Mechanical believes that there are a number of benefits to doing business with minority, veteran women-owned and local business enterprises such as helping those companies achieve success and promoting competition and diversity within our industry.

At Alden Mechanical, we are committed to partnering with a variety of small business types including: small, disadvantaged, historically underused business zone enterprises, disabled veteran- owned, veteran owned, women- owned, minority-owned and project local.  We work throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, and have an intermittent need for the following types of subcontractors and suppliers:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Crane services
  • Low and/or medium voltage work, HVAC controls

Alden Mechanical strives to establish new small business partnerships and utilizes the System for Award Management (SAM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) databases to identify potential subcontractors and suppliers.

Small business subcontractors and suppliers are encouraged to register with these systems and to ensure that their profiles are continuously updated with detailed information.  Solicitations may be sent directly to those businesses we identify through these databases as meeting our subcontracting or supply needs.

Apprenticeship Programs/Minority Apprentice & Employee Recruiting

As a Native American woman owned company, Alden Mechanical is passionate about educating and recruiting minorities and tribal members to apply for journeyman positions and plumbing apprenticeships within our company or with other local entities and schools.

We are active in job fairs, recruitment meetings, tribal outreach conferences, and college plumbing apprenticeship program set-up and implementation in Oregon and Washington.  In this past year we have participated in a job fair for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and set up and held a recruitment conference on the Colville Indian reservation – resulting in three new Native American hires.  During this year we also enrolled 12 new plumbing apprentices in the Oregon BMCC apprenticeship program.

Alden Mechanical keeps a 50% plumbing apprentice/journeyman staff ratio and has successfully recruited Native American apprentices, several of whom went on to complete the program and are currently growing with our company.  We have welcomed 4 new women employees to our company this year, with another tradeswoman on board to run our expanded supply shop.  Alden Mechanical also proudly employs several veterans, some of whom are disabled.  Our generous benefits policy is offered to promote retention of these individuals and create support for health, well-being, and job satisfaction.

Our business has recruitment ads regularly running on Indeed & Craigslist, and through various online and print newspapers in WA, OR, ID. Job applicants and those interested in Alden Mechanical plumbing or HVAC apprenticeships can contact Samantha Copeland, HR/Payroll at 509-386-5704 or at office@aldenplumbing.net.
