Requirements to become a journeyman plumber

  • Five years of experience.
  • Passing score on a master plumber exam.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate in plumbing.
  • Often an apprenticeship.
  • Valid apprentice license plus four years of experience as an apprentice.
  • Passing an exam testing knowledge of plumbing systems and diagnosing issues.
  • Technical skills to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
